Call for projects: Jean-Jacques and Félicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation Prize 2025

Each year, the Jean-Jacques and Felicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation encourages students from four European public “Hautes Écoles”, including ISAE-SUPAERO, to carry out an innovative and highly promising project. The project can be either academic or entrepreneurial. The prize: a million euros!

For the past 7 years, the Jean-Jacques and Felicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation has been encouraging students from four European public universities to carry out an innovative and highly promising project, which may take the form of an academic or entrepreneurial research project.

The Jean-Jacques and Felicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation awards a prize of one million euros to a winner in each of the Hautes Écoles.

These schools are :

  • ISAE-SUPAERO,
  • Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich,
  • École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne,
  • École Polytechnique Paris-Saclay.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLYING TO ISAE-SUPAERO?

Hold an ISAE-SUPAERO diploma (Bachelor, Engineer, Master, PhD) less than 2 years old, as of May 13, 2024.

Applications are personal and should be sent to: prix.lopez-loreta at isae-supaero.fr with a copy to charlotte.sartor at isae-supaero.fr and the subject line “Application for the Lopez-Loreta Foundation Prize 2025 edition”. It must include as an attachment a pre-file transmitted as a single PDF file before Thursday, September 26, 2024.


CALENDAR

  • Thursday, September 26, 2024: deadline for sending applications to ISAE-SUPAERO.
  • Wednesday, October 30, 2024: pre-selected applications sent by ISAE-SUPAERO to the Jean-Jacques and Félicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation.
  • December 2024 : communication by the Jean-Jacques and Félicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation of the pre-files considered eligible.
  • Thursday, January 16, 2025 : in the event of selection by the Jean-Jacques and Félicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation, a complete dossier of the final project must be prepared for transmission to ISAE-SUPARO by January 16, 2025. This dossier will then be finalized with the support of ISAE-SUPAERO, the ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation and the ISAE SUPAERO ENSICA Alumni Association, before transmission of the final dossier to the Jean-Jacques and Félicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation.
  • Friday, February 14, 2025: ISAE-SUPAERO will send the final projects to the Jean-Jacques and Félicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation.
  • No later than April 25, 2025: invitation to oral hearings.
  • May 2025 : proposal for oral training session for candidates selected by ISAE-SUPAERO.
  • No later than May 31, 2025: audition of successful candidates.
  • No later than June 30, 2025: decision by the Laureates 2025 Foundation Board.

PRE-FOLDER FORMAT

This pre-file :

  • contain a description of the project, as well as the candidate’s CV and a copy of university diplomas,
  • be, as well as the final projects will be, written in French or English (but if written in English, a French translation must be attached), and submitted in PDF format only,
  • include a cover page with the candidate’s contact details, the name of the University, the name of the project and the name of the host institution for each pre-file and final file.
  • The applicant must be the initiator of the project.
  • The project must have been initiated within the submitting university. However, in view of current practice, it may be carried out and developed at a university of the winner’s choice in the interests of the project, irrespective of its geographical location.
  • “Parallel” degrees such as “Executive Masters” or equivalent are not accepted.
  • Candidates are not allowed to submit a project more than once.
  • Preference for translational research.
  • Entrepreneurial projects must be in “genesis”. This means that the Foundation, in accordance with the Articles of Association, does not aim to reward advanced projects where the candidate (or the structure he/she has created to carry out his/her project, such as a start-up) needs financing, support and/or fund-raising to relaunch his/her project.

As a reminder, the Foundation’s statutes stipulate that projects must be of an entrepreneurial, scientific, academic, ecological or humanitarian character.

The Foundation Board will not provide justification for rejected applications
